Therapeutic support for children & adolescence who have lost a parent.

12 Week Group Program

Our Children and Adolescent Support Programme provides a safe and supportive space for young people who are navigating the loss of a parent or close loved one. Through a structured 12-week group programme,

young people are gently supported to explore their feelings, connect with others who share similar experiences, and develop healthy ways to cope with grief. The programme includes creative activities such as memory box making, helping young people honour and remember the person they have lost.

Support is also available for families, including guidance before and after bereavement, as well as one-to-one sessions where a young person may benefit from more individual support.

Our aim is to ensure that no child or family has to face grief alone.

Mens Mental Health Support

The football sessions programme brings men together during difficult periods in their lives, providing a supportive and non-judgemental space where they can connect with others facing similar challenges. Through regular physical football sessions combined with informal group support, participants are encouraged to build friendships, improve wellbeing, and talk openly about their experiences. The physical activity supports mental health and stress reduction, while the group environment helps reduce isolation and create a sense of community and belonging.

The Story Behind Grief and Beyond

Grief and Beyond was created from both lived experience and professional practice. When I was sixteen, my mother died. Like many young people who lose a parent, I struggled to make sense of my grief and often felt alone in the experience.

Over the past sixteen years I have worked as a qualified Social Worker supporting children, families, and adults, including those facing trauma, loss, and life-limiting illness within palliative care services. Through this work I have seen how deeply the death of a parent can affect a young person’s emotional world and development.

Grief and Beyond was created to offer the kind of support I wish had existed when I was younger — a safe, understanding space where young people can talk openly, connect with others who share similar experiences, and begin to rebuild hope for the future.

Alongside our adolescent bereavement programme, Beyond the Game brings people together through football and community, recognising that connection and shared experience are powerful foundations for healing.

Together, these programmes aim to remind people that while grief changes life, it does not define the rest of it. There is always a way forward — beyond.

Grief and Beyond CIC is a Community Interest Company committed to supporting young people and communities with care, professionalism, and integrity. The organisation is led by a small board of directors who bring experience across social care, community work, public service, and finance. Together they provide oversight, guidance, and accountability to ensure the organisation operates safely and in the best interests of those we support. Safeguarding is central to everything we do. All work with young people is delivered in line with recognised safeguarding practices and professional standards. Appropriate safeguarding policies, risk assessments, and referral pathways are in place to ensure the wellbeing of all participants. Grief and Beyond works collaboratively with families, schools, health services, and community organisations to ensure young people receive the support they need in a safe and supportive environment.

What We Provide

We provide supportive services for people experiencing grief, loss, and emotional distress, helping individuals connect, heal, and strengthen their mental wellbeing. We have a particular focus on supporting men’s mental health, creating safe and informal spaces where men can come together through activities such as football sessions and peer support. By offering early community-based support, we aim to reduce isolation, promote wellbeing, and complement services such as the NHS by helping to relieve pressure on mental health support systems.
